| | Y.A.P.A.K. Mountaineering Inc. launched it's first ever outreach program since forming the group in 2006. The program named "Balik Eskwela Outreach Program" aimed at helping children from this barangay by providing them ample supply of school supplies (bags, notebooks, pencils, slippers, umbrella, etc.) so that they may go on with their daily routine to school with the proper tools. The real service and outreach happen when people look outside of themselves, and some of the most important work can take place when people cross social boundaries and truly embrace "the other". That's what exactly YAPAK did when they went to Brgy. Pita in Dinalupihan, Bataan. They hiked and climbed for almost hours of land just to reach the Pita elementary school along with them dozens of packed supplies of school paraphernalias and stuffs.
I don't know much about the place. All I know is that Aetas or the indigenous people of Bataan live among these far flung places away from most of the ciivilization in this region. The Aetas live in Dinalupihan, and because of their ethnic roots and physical appearance (they have curly hair), they have become marginalized in their native Bataan. Families often lack sufficient food and shelter, and children rarely receive much education. Only a handful of Aetas can read and write, and many of the children who do make the several kilometer walk to school don't complete the elementary level.
And so Dinalupihan, particularly Pita, have became the second home or sanctuary for charity institutions and organizations who always strives in giving these people here, especially the children, the much needed help and support. YAPAK made their mark in their own history by becoming one with the samaritans. Great thanks to Pilipinas Sierra and PSALM mountaineering group, with their help and unconditional support, the project went on smoothly without any hitch.
I may not have participated in the event, but knowing that the group (YAPAK) that you help build over the past 2 years as one of their incorporators, i know there's no other more gratifying feeling than helping these kids go their way through school. You may have all the fancy DSLRs, gadgets, car, house, money, master's dipiploma or any luxurious bling bling on your body, but you won't have the most rewarding feat and achievement in the world. That's what you call "CHARITY". I'm proud of you guys! Keep up the good work!
And I hope that anyone who can read this, would go and make their way just once in their lifetime to share their blessings to this kind of unfortunate people. And make them feel that they are not being neglected and deprived, by the very same people, "us", whose making their life even miserable and worse.

| | THIS IS TOTALLY EMBARASSING! HAHAHA! I have lived half of my LIFE and i havn't gone half of the many good places in the Philippines. Geeezz... I need to explore more down in the south. But i think there will be no other better place for me than Benguet. Especially in Sagada. It may be dull and boring to some of you but it is the ultimate serene haven i want to be. Don't lock up yourselves in Manila, or in the white sandy beaches of Boracay, or the socialite clubs in Fort and Ortigas... travel and explore life's beauty in Philippines.
BIYAHE NA!!!!
