Capitol Records, and a host of other entities owned and/or controlled by label giant EMI Music, sued the company Multiply Inc. in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York. Plaintiffs allege copyright infringement arising from unauthorized use and exploitation of original sound and video recordings by encouraging and enabling users of Multiply to upload and share performances of well-known musical groups.

What gives? This sounds like EMI is suing YouTube type service. But, after casually visiting Multiply's
website, which boasts "Multiply makes it easy to create, share and discuss your blog, photos, videos and music with more of the people you know, and less of the people you don't"; it looks like this is more of an online storage site, giving users their own "homepage" to share with the world. But, is this any different than MySpace? Is EMI just going after the little-guy, hoping for precedential effect against the behemoths in the future?

No Wonder... Multiply is eliminating the Download link !!!

Check the waves
Crashing down right by the sand
Feel the water go through my empty hands
Cuz today is mine
No troubles in my mind
Out this cynical world
Today we ride the waves.

Riding on the curl
Straight into the shore
Take it easy, take it easy
Under the sun
Having fun cuz life is easy
Life is easy.

I don't really care what people say
Cuz they really don't know me anyway
Cuz today is mine
No troubles in my mind
Out this cynical world
Today we rule the waves
My mind is free today
The tides they center my soul
Time and time and time and time again.

Life is easy.

COOOOOOLNESSSSSS....

Backed by one of the country's most influential group of publications And by the biggest music retail franchise today...

The Philippine Star
The Philippines Yearbook
And Odyssey

PULP is the best music and pop culture magazine in the country. Since its first issue in December 1999, PULP has become synonymous with rock and roll as well as all things associated with rock and roll: the cutting edge, the biggest parties, the loudest concerts, and the wildest stories and wackiest images. PULP, unlike other magazines, has become a powerful brand name itself as well as a style and sensibility. PULP is also a vibrant online community with over 20,000 registered members. But the bottom-line is PULP is PULP. There is no other magazine like it. Anywhere.

WHO READS PULP?

The PULP reader is more often than not fanatical. He or she is passionate and takes a highly individualistic approach to life. PULP doesn't cater so much to particular age group as it does to true music fans. And the range of music - punk, goth, thrash, grunge, reggae, ska, emo, hip hop, death metal, rap metal, black metal, classic rock ? covers a tremendous scope of personalities, which in turn translates to a huge market of passionate consumers!

PULP Sections

PULP is fast making a reputation as the venue for all the best Music and lifestyle coverage. Comprehensive, up-to-date, and witty, PULP's sections provide invaluable information packed inside highly enjoyable reading, all supported by the highest quality photography. While music is, of course, at the core of PULP's content, our coverage extends to the other areas of youth-oriented lifestyle. Fashion show, business, sports and leisure, technology, etc., are also very important components of PULP's sections.

Juicy Bits
From concerts, parties, product launches and other exciting events to quick graphic reports on up-and-coming talents and other curiosities, Team PULP gives its readers entertaining mini-features that are engaging and funny.

On Stage

Reviews of some of the most talked about shows and performances. On Stage extensive coverage of the local live music scene shows that music as a performance art is alive and well in the Philippines, not to mention chalk full of diversity and energy.

Homegrown

Homegrown puts the spotlight on the budding artist, and serves as a platform that not only draws the attention of music fans to new talent but also the pundits and talent scouts within the music industry.

PULP Columnists

Fire at will! From the insider skinny on the music industry to technical info for audiophiles and musicians to just plain character assassination and the dirt on music personalities, our columnists don't pull any punches! Recently, PULP has included regular columns and features that focus on the specialized concerns of aspiring and practicing musicians since there is no local periodical that serves this market.

Main Features

Gonzo journalism and over-the-top photography and styling characterize the PULP feature story. Averaging eight to ten pages, the PULP feature is in-depth and loaded with graphic elements and a distinctive flair for layout and presentation.

Fashion PULP Style and Paraphernaliac

Clothes and gadgets, trends and styles, all interpreted from a fresh, witty perspective - PULP Style!

PULP Reviews

PULP's gallery of album reviews is an intelligent, informed buying guide to the latest albums. Undecided about which CDs to buy? This is the only local source to go for insightful and well-informed advice.

Subsections also cater to other interests

1. Classical Spotlight - recommended staples for classical music fans.
2. Book Review - what we think of reads geared those who live and love music.
3. Rewind and fastforward - old albums you might have missed, and future albums to watch out for.
4. Record rack - the current playlist, old favorites, and dirty secrets of your favorite musicians.

THE BEST AND MOST TALENTED FEMALE PERFORMER IN A BAND IN THE COUNTRY!

The three bodhisattvas who comprise Paramita are on the right path. Named after Tibetan Buddhism's mantra for perfection, independent pop rock act Paramita has been pumping up the local music scene with their stirring originals since 2003.

Paramita is made up of Norman Dellosa on guitars, Alsey Cortez on bass, and Ria Baustista on drums and vocals. Buoyed by passionate vocals and solid song-writing, Paramita has already released their 12-track full-length album, six of which are written in English while four are in Filipino. Despite being such a young band, Paramita has already been featured in MTV Ink magazine, The Philippine Daily Inquirer, NU 107's In The Raw radio program and the ABS-CBN morning show Breakfast.

Their song Hiling held the #1 slot on NU 107's countdown for three (3) weeks. Paramita is fast becoming one of the most solid independent acts in the scene today, enlightened by music and strenghtened by a belief in their own unique talents.

THE BEST CEBUANO BAND IN THE COUNTRY!

From the very first day that this band was formed (in the year 2000), they were destined to be something more than the ordinary. Forced to be independent due to the lack of support coming from major record companies, Urbandub released their debut album called BIRTH. Off of this album, the hit tracks “Come”, “Give” and “Would You Go” launched and took their world by storm. Unique, timely and yet experimental, it was something that entertainment scenes around the Philippines needed: a kick start into the future of original music.

With the release of their sophomore effort, INFLUENCE (Lighter Records), Urbandub took on a new form, changing their sound with a new drummer (From Jed Honrado to Jerros Dolino). It was the sound in this album that clearly defined the steps that Urbandub would start to take. The track “Soul Searching” later won the award as Best Song of the Year in the NU107 Rock Awards 2003. Pushing the sound further, the collection bagged the Album Of The Year Award in the NU107 Rock Awards 2004.

Today, Urbandub now offers yet a third helping of what they are capable of. With the 2005 release of the album EMBRACE, Urbandub has proven that there is hope for the struggling artist. With help from their community and the noise they have created, they were able to grab the attention of EMI Music Philippines. Not one to take chances, the band has kept Lighter Records as their management arm and guide. In line with their ideals, EMI allowed them the creative freedom to record their album on their home soil of Cebu. Added to that, they have been able to maintain their independent principles while taking major steps into the scene that has awaited their new sound.

Urbandub is Gabby Alipe (Vocalist / Guitarist), Lalay Lim (Bassist), John Mendoza (Drummer) and John Dinopol (Lead Guitarist). Urbandubs career thus far has given much inspiration and support to upcoming acts, most of which fall under the Lighter Records stable such as Faspitch, The Ambassadors, Still, Nuncyspungen (Cagayan) and Point Click Kill (Ilo Ilo). Each of them now aspire to take their own roads in music, paving their own way and modeling some of their steps after the success of Urbandub.
